Paducah, KY – McCracken County school officials hope this time around the latest construction cost estimates for its upcoming consolidated high school will exceed bids. Cost of building the new school is now estimated at $52 million, almost $9 million under last month's low bid. The school board is accepting new sealed bids to be opened December 7th and if in line with estimates and available funds will be awarded on the 9th. Architect Mike Smith says the size and structure of the building hasn't changed. Instead, cuts like eliminating 500 parking spaces, four tennis courts and an outdoor amphitheater are among several changes impacting the savings.
