Louisville, KY – More than a thousand public officials meet in Louisville Wednesday for the Kentucky Association of Counties annual convention. This is the first conference since a state Auditor's report last year uncovered lavish spending of public dollars by organization officials. Executive director Denny Nunnelley says some of the auditor's suggested financial safeguards have been put in place, and the organization now has more internal oversight. Nunnelley says the main topic of discussion will likely be jail costs. He says funding local jails is becoming increasingly difficult for many municipal governments.
