Benton, KY – Marshall County Hospital is clearing up some confusion about new emergency care policies. According to a statement from Public Affairs Director Marica White, incorrect information from a WPSD report has some worried they won't be treated for emergency care without a $100 payment in advance. White says the hospital will not refuse anyone access to emergency personnel. After an initial screen to determine whether the condition is an emergency, patients either receive immediate care or the option of elective procedures. Only elective procedures require a $100 deposit. Under federal law no hospital can deny care for emergency situations.
