Paducah, KY – The McCracken Fiscal Court next Monday will discuss taking legal action to block Paducah's annexation of 174 acres south of the city along Schneidman and Bechdolt roads. According to the Paducah Sun, County Attorney Michael Murphy says the city's action isn't legal as it involves what courts call corridor or finger annexation. The property in question doesn't presently border the city, and to reach it, the city is annexing a strip of railroad right-of-way that leads to it. Paducah Mayor Bill Paxton says he isn't worried about a possible legal challenge, and doesn't understand the county's opposition.
