Madisonville, KY – A grassroots group plans to organize Hopkins County's first trained volunteer search and rescue team. The team is named after Jodi Powers, a Hopkins County teenager who went missing in September. A hunter later found her body. The Madisonville Messenger reports the crew will work under the direction of the county's Emergency Management Services. They will assist with searches primarily in Hopkins, Webster, Muhlenberg, Caldwell, Christian, and Union counties. A spokesman says the team is currently seeking financial support to purchase search and rescue equipment.
