Fort Campbell, KY – Some 15,000 Fort Campbell soldiers deployed to Afghanistan will begin returning home in January. The 3rd Brigade is the first slated to return followed by the 1st and 2nd Brigades after their respective one-year tours wrap up. The Clarksville Leaf-Chronicle reports the announcement comes after the Pentagon released plans to replace the 101st Airborne Division with the 1st Cavalry Division.
