Frankfort, KY – Seniors are sifting through the options for Medicare Part D, the prescription drug plan. Enrollment for the program remains open for the next month. Free counseling is available to help seniors make their decision on which plan to choose. Counselors like Stephanie Langguth with SHIP, the State Health Insurance Assistance Program, help Medicare recipients compare the plans.
"And actually, quite a few people are eligible and they don't realize that that program even exists. And so we screen every person that we talk with to see if they're eligible for Extra Help from Social Security. If they are, they have no gap in coverage and they get help to pay for their prescriptions."
