Mayfield, KY – Those at the Purchase Area Development District presentation of "Purchase Future, an Economic Development Plan for Western Kentucky" heard more than just tips for better small business. Tom Stellman with TIP Strategies consulting firm of Austin, Texas spoke to local business owners and administrators at today's rollout of project findings. Stellman points out the challenges of aging bridges in Land Between the Lakes.
"We were in Calloway County, and someone said, Might as well be a wall, Tom, because for all intents and purposes business can't use the bridges right now, so doing whatever you can to continue to support that project and celebrate that. I think that will open up the region in a way that will produce some unexpected results, all very positive."
Design for the LBL bridges is already underway and the projected end date is sometime in 2017. PADD Special Projects Coordinator Mary Anne Medlock says the next phase is acquiring funds for specific projects TIP suggested.
