Purchase and Pennyrile – You've heard of Black Friday, and maybe even Cyber Monday. To help encourage local shopping, Governor Steve Beshear has declared the Saturday after Thanksgiving "Small Business Saturday." Paducah Area Chamber of Commerce president Elaine Spalding says local businesses are vital to a community.
"We want folks to shop here, in the region. It'd be much better for them to get out and see the local products and services that are available and support those businesses because they're the ones who are paying taxes and supporting our schools and our roads."
Governor Beshear says, more than 90 percent of employers in Kentucky have 50 or fewer workers.
