Union County, Ky. – Inclement weather has kept eleven endangered whooping cranes and their ten-person guide team in Union County yet another day. They could remain in Western Kentucky through the rest of the week. The migrating birds and their ultralight guides landed Tuesday in Union County, and were scheduled to move on to Marshall County Wednesday. Operation Migration spokesperson Liz Condie says they'll stay put until the weather cooperates. The half-year-old cranes have about 800 more miles to fly before they reach their Florida destination.
