Murray, KY – The Kentucky Department for Public Health says that proper handling of food after the meal can be just as important as when cooking. Around 76 million people fall ill from foodborne diseases each year. The Department urges people to store food in a refrigerator within two hours after it's been cooked and to reheat all leftovers to 165 degrees before eating. Using many small containers to store leftovers can help prevent the spread of bacterial contamination.
