Berea, KY – A report finds if Kentucky reduces its heavy dependence on coal-generated electricity, it could create economic opportunities and job growth. The 21-page report from the Berea-based Mountain Association for Community Economic Development urges the Commonwealth to diversify its energy portfolio. It points out an opportunity for the state to create energy-efficient jobs that target improving conservation at homes and factories. It also suggests creating renewable energy facilities and going green would help offset expected cost increases associated with burning coal and mining.
