Frankfort, KY – Perennial candidate Gatewood Galbraith kicks off his campaign for Kentucky governor Wednesday morning at the State Capitol. This will be Gatewood Galbraith's ninth run for public office since 1983, when he lost a bid for Agriculture Commissioner.
This time the Lexington lawyer and marijuana advocate is running as an Independent for governor. His running mate is Shelby County political consultant Dea Riley.
Already in the race are Democratic Gov. Steve Beshear; Republican Senate President David Williams; Republican Louisville businessman Phil Moffett; and Democratic contractor Otis "Bullman" Hensley of Harlan.
None of the gubernatorial hopefuls have officially qualified with the Secretary of State, but they have until January 25th to do so.
So far, one candidate has qualified for Auditor, one for Secretary of State and four for Agriculture Commissioner, including Republican Rob Rothenburger of Shelbyville, who qualified Monday.
