Henderson, KY – A Henderson, Kentucky utility is looking to market millions of dollars in surplus power, a move that may get tied up in a long-running dispute over a power station. Henderson Municipal Power and Light has given General Manager Gary Quick the authority to hire a Florida company at a cost of up to $375,000 per year to help market the excess energy. Quick says discussions about the idea are continuing and no decisions have been made. The issue is part of a long-running dispute between the city and Big Rivers Electric about who can use generating capacity at the city power plant HMP&L has reserved but doesn't always need.
