McCracken Co. Accepts Second Round of Bids for High School

By Chris Taylor

Paducah, KY – McCracken County School officials say a second round of bids to construct the planned consolidated high school are in and all are under the projected $54 million estimate. The Paducah Sun reports base bids hover between $50.8 and just over $51 million, but alternate bids that include an additional wing and an indoor sports practice facility range between $55.6 and $58.7 million.

Shiel Sexton submitted the lowest base bid and A&K Construction gave the least expensive total bid. The board will announce which bid best suits its needs sometime tomorrow.

Construction is set to begin in as little as two weeks so the new facility can be ready to open by August 2013.
