Paducah, KY – A Brookport man yesterday attempted to stab himself in the neck with a pen at the McCracken County Courthouse. Bailiff's were able to wrestle the writing utensil from 30-year-old Anthony Fairfield before he was able to do any extensive damage to himself. Fairfield obtained the pen from an attorney to sign legal papers. Jailer Greg Garrison tells the Paducah Sun Fairfield is compliant now and suffered only scratches and bruises. Circuit Judge Tim Kaltenbach says from now on he plans to be more strict when it comes to inmates signing legal papers in his courtroom.
