Fort Campbell, KY – The military says six American soldiers killed in a suicide attack in Afghanistan were members of the 101st Airborne Division. The soldiers were killed Sunday when an explosives-packed minibus blew up at the entrance of a joint NATO-Afghan base in Kandahar province. The Department of Defense says the six killed were: 25-year-old Corporal Sean Collins, 23-year-old Corporal Willie McLawhorn Jr., 22-year-old Specialist Patrick Deans, 21-year-old Specialist Kenneth Necochea Jr., 21-year-old Specialist Derek Simonetta, and 24-year-old Specialist Jorge Villacis. The killings follow an incident earlier this month in which an Afghan soldier turned his weapon on six other Fort Campbell soldiers. Division Commander General John Campbell plans a conference tomorrow to address the latest soldier deaths.
