Murray, KY – 1st District Kentucky Congressman Ed Whitfield is the new chair of the Subcommittee on Energy and Power. The subcommittee is part of the full House Energy and Commerce Committee, which deals with energy issues directly related to Kentucky's coal industry and Paducah's uranium enrichment facility. As chairman, Whitfield says he plans to delay the implementation of a clean air transport rule being put forth by the EPA and to expedite the permitting process for new coal and nuclear power plants.
