Frankfort, KY – A $150,000 grant is expected to help college graduates better meet the needs of potential employers. The program is designed to define what students must know, understand, and be able to demonstrate after completing a degree. The Lumina Foundation for Education grant comes to the Kentucky Council for Postsecondary Education. CPE vice president for academic affairs, Aaron Thompson says stipends will go to faculty in the areas of biology, business, elementary education, nursing, and social work. The faculty led pilot project is called Tuning USA.
"We are wanting to get the process started and this 150 thousand allows us to do it to set up a protocol where by then we can create with these five and use it as a baseline to go out and do more."
Sixty-five faculty representatives from Kentucky's two and four year public and independent colleges and university will participate.
