Paducah, KY – Kentucky's ban on sending text messages while driving will be challenging to enforce once it goes into effect January 1st. That's according to Marshall County Sheriff's Deputy Jason Ivey, who told WPSD-TV it'll be hard to catch violators and prove they had violated the law. Ivey says drivers could be dialing a number, but it could look like texting. The Kentucky governor's office says more than 200 fatalities, and 57,000 crashes, on state roadways last year were attributed to driver distraction. The law bans texting for drivers of all ages while the vehicle is in motion except to report illegal activity or to request emergency aid. Fines begin at $25 for the first offense and $50 for the second.
