Murray, KY – New federal funding is helping West Kentucky Workforce Investment Board place the unemployed with local businesses. The Board runs two programs that reimburse employers for on-the-job training and internships. Workforce Investments Manager Craig Holloman says that the funds are aimed to unite local businesses with potential workers.
"We have plenty of people that are out there and have the skills so we're stepping up the information out to our local employers and our local businesses to make them aware that these opportunities are there because of course it is a cost-savings to the employers, as well."
Holloman says the funds will be available through June 30th. He expects the programs to help about 60 people find positions with local businesses in Kentucky's 17 Westernmost Counties.
