Metropolis, IL – Honeywell officials say a hydrofluoric acid leak at the tank farm of its Metropolis plant has been contained without injury or impact offsite. Honeywell spokesman Peter Dalpe says the leak occurred around 3:00pm yesterday afternoon and was immediately contained by the plant's water mitigation system. The leak was stopped before 5:00pm. Dalpe says no radioactive materials were involved and that all plant emergency response procedures functioned as intended. The plant is studying the leak to determine its cause.
