Frankfort, KY – Kentucky may consider a ban on sales of caffeinated energy drinks to anyone under 18 years old. Republican state Representative Danny Ford says he believes even non-alcoholic energy drinks pose a health risk to children who drink them. The proposal comes on the heels of action by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to declare caffeine in alcoholic drinks an unsafe food additive. The Kentucky Beverage Association hasn't commented on Ford's proposal, which is ready to be introduced. The measure would put the onus on retailers to uphold any ban.
