Henderson, KY – An HIV-AIDS clinic in western Kentucky won't be receiving the federal grant it was approved for this year. Funds aren't available for the $240,000 grant for the prevention program of Matthew 25, the regional HIV-AIDS clinic in Henderson. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention had approved the grant, but the funds went to larger organizations. The clinic did get a $110,000 grant from Kentucky. Matthew 25 community services director Sally Welch says the funds will keep the clinic's three full-time prevention people on staff. The Kentucky grant includes serving 42 counties in western Kentucky, but Welch says there's no money included for travel, and the clinic also must buy supplies for prevention and pay for other items. She says the clinic hopes to make up the difference with fundraisers.
