Frankfort, KY – Kentucky Fifth District Representative Melvin Henley is among many state lawmakers who have pre-filed bills for consideration in General Assembly. Henley's resolution is an amendment to an existing law that would require any medical equipment supply companies selling in the Commonwealth to have an in-state office. He says the current Tennessee law requiring the same hurts Kentucky businesses.
"If you had a business in Murray and you were supplying medical equipment to customers down in Henry County, then you would have to spend several thousands of dollars to put a store in Paris."
Henley says he would support the bill until Tennessee rescinded its similar law. However, there is no clear indication whether Tennessee is set to revisit the decision. He says the bill goes against the federal regulation of interstate commerce.
