Springfield, IL – Despite the priority of the state's budget crisis, Illinois lawmakers managed to put nearly 200 new laws on the books for the coming year. One of the laws that'll be enforced beginning tomorrow was passed in 2009. It limits campaign contributions in Illinois for the first time. The measure caps how much money individuals, political action committees and interest groups can give to candidates. Among other provisions, the law sets up campaign finance disclosure requirements and requires random audits by the State Board of Elections.
