Paducah, KY – Local police departments dispatch additional cars this evening in anticipation of New Year's partying. Paducah Police Acting Assistant Deputy Brandon Barnhill says they'll have additional patrols out tonight during a time of year when many put caution to the wind.
"We do see our statistics go up during the holiday season, just because of time away from work, time spent with family, and just celebrating and enjoying the holidays often tends to cause some problems for some people that want to be intoxicated and then drive."
Barnhill says if someone questions whether they should drive, it's safer to take a cab. He did not specify punishments associated with DUI Charges instead he says Paducah Police will focus on drunk driving prevention.
