Murray, KY – 1st District Representative Ed Whitfield's district representative Michael Pape presented 8th grader Joseph Brown with a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition at his school on Tuesday. Brown, while traveling with his mother on Christmas Eve, noticed a truck overturned in creek bed and helped rescue a trapped man. Brown's mother Amanda echoed the praise of the Congressman.
"I don't know many 14yr old kids that would have took it upon themselves to jump in a creek bed with an upside down truck to help a man. He didn't think anything of his self he just knew he had a goal to accomplish and he did it," said Brown
The man wasn't seriously injured. Emergency responders suggest immediately phoning accidents before removing a victim from an accident. Brown also received an American Flag flown over the U.S. Capitol, in recognition of his effort.
