Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Tennessee City Council plans to vote tomorrow on recommendations for employee pay increases. The Leaf-Chronicle reports the city recently opted to not give annual salary increases, a decision which has irked employees who are currently underpaid. A pay study completed in December recommended three options. The first would bring underpaid employees to the minimum pay grade, the second would bring employees to mid-range level pay, and the third would put pay at the highest tier. The study also recommends adding retirement health benefits for many employees who don't have them. To raise salaries above the minimum level, the council would have to make budget cuts in other areas.
