Frankfort, KY – A Kentucky lawmaker is proposing legislation that would stiffen state ethics law for legislators and candidates and shed more light on spending by lawmakers. Senator Kathy Stein said Wednesday that her proposal would restrict campaign contributions to lawmakers or legislative candidates by businesses and groups that employ lobbyists. Stein said her bill would prohibit such contributions when the General Assembly is meeting in regular session.
Her proposal also would require the Kentucky Legislative Ethics Commission to dismiss an ethics complaint that was publicly disclosed by the complainant.
Another proposal by the Lexington Democrat calls for the Legislative Research Commission to post lawmakers' travel and expenses records online.
