Murray, KY – A surface drill rig caught fire at a coal mine outside of Madisonville this morning around 5AM. Hopkins County Sheriff Frank Latham says two people were injured when personnel possibly hit a pocket of gas that caused an explosion at the surface of the rig. Police, fire, and medical emergency cars responded to the incident at the Warrior Coal branch located at the intersection of Wolf Hollow Road and Blockhouse Road about five miles north of Madisonville.
