Clarksville, TN – Local Clarksville legislators have asked the Tennessee Attorney General for an opinion on the Power Board's hiring of former Mayor Johnny Piper. The board hired Piper to serve as the Department of Electricity lightband superintendent. The move caused controversy because the hiring may violate city ordinance. Clarksville City Information Officer Mark Hicks says Mayor Kim McMillan requested the state look into the hiring. Hicks says there is no set time for the Attorney General's office to respond, but legislators have requested an expedited decision. Piper continues to serve in his position.
