Metropolis, IL – Two Illinois lawmakers are expected to attend a United Steelworkers news conference today to discuss a safety report critical of the Metropolis Honeywell Corporation plant. State Representative Brandon Phelps and State Senator Gary Forby will be present at the meeting. Honeywell officials accuse the union of staging a publicity stunt, saying there's nothing new or relevant in the Nuclear Regulatory Commission report it's citing which found the facility to be operating safely. After multiple failed negotiations, Union and corporate officials have still not reached any contract agreements after the company locked out union workers last year.
