Metropolis, IL – Honeywell corporation and the United Steel Workers in Metropolis have set February dates to resume contract negotiations. The two met briefly this morning. USW Local 7-669 President Darrell Lillie says they introduced good concepts that could lead to a compromise, though he declined to offer details. The union also held a news conference today during which they criticized Honeywell's handling of safety issues. Illinois State Representative Brandon Phelps, as well as members of the local community attended the event. Honeywell officials say they have received good inspection reports from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. Honeywell blasted the union for taking focus off negotiations to host the news conference.
