Hickory, KY – The Kentucky State Police will have cruisers on main roadways tonight to watch for any crashes. National Weather Service forecasters predict temperatures back in the teens tonight, which could refreeze ice that melted during the day. KSP Trooper Dean Patterson says drivers often overestimate their vehicle on ice.
"If you have a four-wheel vehicle, in snow it helps a little bit but when there's ice it really doesn't matter. So don't be overconfident in the vehicle you're driving in. Go very slow. Even, a lot of the collisions were working yesterday were low-speed collisions, which meant there's not a whole lot you can do to avoid sliding off the highway."
Police responded to multiple crashes today, but they report no injuries. Kentucky Transportation Department salt trucks are out treating roads. Transportation officials do not expect to have all roads clear until tomorrow, when temperatures are expected to reach 30 degrees.
