Fort Campbell, KY – 101st Airborne Division commander Major General John Campbell says getting 40% of Afghanistan under local control would be a "real game changer" in the war torn country. Campbell tells The Clarksville Leaf-Chronicle he hopes to hand over control of the Nangarhar and Laghman provinces to the Afghans soon. Those two provinces, along with Bamiyan and Parwan, would put 40% of the population in Regional Command-East under Afghan control. Campbell says there are still hurdles to reaching that goal, including a noticeable rift between the people and the top leadership headed by President Hamid Karzai. Campbell described the split as "frustrating."
