Paducah Power System Considers New Site for Lone Oak Substation

By Angela Hatton

Paducah, KY – Paducah Power System may change their decision to locate a substation on Lovelaceville Road in Lone Oak. PPS is scheduled to close on the property soon, but community members are urging power officials find a spot farther away from residential areas. Community Relations Director Andrea Underwood says they can't move the substation too far because they need to be near the proper grid. PPS officials say the substation is needed as a back-up system for around 25-hundred residents. Underwood says they are the only subscribers who don't have a back-up system in PPS grid. She says PPS has other substations in residential areas, and they haven't been a problem. Work on the project isn't scheduled to begin this year, but officials plan to make a decision as soon as possible.
