Paducah, KY – National Weather Service forecasters in Paducah say roads may refreeze tonight as temperatures again fall below freezing. Transportation spokesman Keith Todd says crews finished treating routes with salt earlier this afternoon, though some secondary roads remain hazardous. The Cabinet has been conserving salt due to low supplies. Todd says a resupply of around five thousand tons begins arriving soon.
"We actually have some shipments that are supposed to arrive tonight directly from the salt mine. We're buying directly from the supplier and they're shipping directly to us."
Todd says Trigg County will receive the first shipments because it is in the most need of salt. Some parts of the county measured seven inches of snow accumulation.
