Murray, KY – Counties across the region were blanketed by 1-7 inches of snow overnight, part of a line of winter weather stretching from Kentucky and Tennessee into Massachusetts. In our area, Trigg County received the heaviest accumulation. Kentucky Transportation Spokesman Keith Todd says crews are plowing and treating area roadways but because of state road salt shortages they are not overdoing it.
"We are in conservation-mode on our salt usage just to make sure that we maintain inventories. So on I-24 and the Parkways where we might have even the passing lane down to wet pavement by this time, you're going to see some of those passing lanes are probably going to remain snow covered through the day until it warms up some this afternoon."
Todd also warns drivers need to take it easy this morning, allowing plenty of travel time and to account for extra stopping distance when approaching intersections. Find more information on Kentucky and Tennessee road conditions.
