Murray, KY – Slick roads are to blame for a fatal car accident Wednesday in Lyon County. Kentucky State Police report Eddyville resident Charles Sivells exited his vehicle after losing control on the US-62 overpass of I-24 and coming to a stop in the median. A few minutes later, Sherry Reed of Eddyville lost control on the same bridge and entered the same median, striking Sivells and his truck. Sivells was taken to Caldwell County Hospital where he later died. Reed was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Keith Todd from the Kentucky Department of Highways reports road crews have finished blowing all routes in the region. Todd says a salt shortage has also been addressed. Temperatures will dip into the 20's tonight which may allow for refreezing and slick spots on roads.
