Henley on SOC and Budget

By Lampe/Hatton

Murray, KY – Lawmakers head back to Frankfort next week after a three week recess from the 2011 regular session. Representative Melvin Henley of Murray hopes to hear more positive news during the Governor's State of the Commonwealth regarding revenue receipts which are up more than 58 million dollars over the budgeted amount. But he isn't hopeful for amending the second year of the state's biannual budget to return some funding to state agencies.

"Usually you'll hear at least some rumblings of the necessity to open up the budget, but I haven't heard anything"

Some of the cuts to state agencies include a 2.5 percent cut to higher education and 6 furlough days for state workers. Hear the full conversation with Representative Henley Friday at noon on the Front Page from WKMS News.
