Lexington, KY – A Kentucky expert on etiquette says there's a link between rude behavior and the shootings in Tucson. Diana Abadi, who runs the Etiquette and Protocol School in Lexington, says the continued decline in good manners has undermined civility. In part, Abadi blames rude behavior on the internet.
"The more time we spend in a virtual world, the less face time we have. And this allows for more antisocial behaviors, such as bullying. The social media allows cowards to be cowards, without any repudiation."
Abadi says sometimes a violent event like the Arizona shootings can shock people into rediscovering the need for civility.
