Nashville, TN – Last year was not only a record-breaker for Tennessee meth lab busts, but authorities say the illegal drug-making also affected a record number of children. That includes almost 500 placed into state protective custody, up by about 200 in 2009. The Clarksville Leaf Chronicle reports officials attribute the increase to an easier way of making meth, called shake and bake' where makers mix chemicals in plastic soft drink bottles. Over 2,000 labs were seized last year, up by almost 600 over 2009 figures and led to over 1,800 arrests.
