Paducah, KY – The hazardous cleanup contractor at the United States Enrichment Corporation's Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant plans to cut jobs tied to subcontract projects by this summer. LATA Environmental Services of Kentucky employs 650 people at the site. Company officials tell the Paducah Sun no specific numbers are being projected, but are pointing to the short-term nature of stimulus-funded job creation. LATA replaced Paducah Remediation Services last year as the site's primary cleanup contractor, taking up a five-year $285 million contract.
