Nashville, TN – Tennessee is preparing to cut $300 million in TennCare spending by limiting doctor and hospital visits. The proposed cuts provide a first glimpse at how Republican Governor Bill Haslam may begin to close an estimated billion dollar state budget gap. TennCare proposes to reduce state spending by over a $100 million, mostly by capping doctor and hospital visits to eight times a year. The move would also eliminate coverage of physical, occupational and speech therapy, as well as for podiatrist or physicians' assistant services.
