Frankfort, KY – Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear tonight delivers his fourth State of the Commonwealth address since taking office in December 2007. House Speaker Greg Stumbo believes the governor will sound an optimistic tone in the speech to a joint session of the legislature. House Minority Whip Danny Ford wants to hear more about the governor's plan for balancing the state's Medicaid budget.
"We're anxious to see what all he's got in his proposals. Hopefully, look for opportunities to move Kentucky forward, and see jobs created and those kinds of things. And hope that he will be able to provide that information."
Ford also hopes House Democrats will give fair consideration to a package of Republican-backed Senate bills sent to the House in early January. Among the issues addressed in the bills are immigration enforcement, tax reform and charter schools.
