Bath Salts Ban Bill Up for House Vote

By Angela Hatton

Frankfort, KY – A bill which would ban a synthetic drug often marketed as "bath salts" has passed into the Kentucky House. Representative John Tilley of Hopkinsville and Steve Rudy of Benton are cosponsoring the legislation. The measure would make the chemicals methylone and mephedrone illegal in the state. Ballard County already bans the sale of bath salts. Police in Western Kentucky have noticed a rising interest in the drug. They liken its effects to methamphetamine.
