Clarksville, TN – A federal court has dismissed a million dollar wrongful death lawsuit against Clarksville, Tennessee's Police Department. Judge Aleta Traugher dismissed the lawsuit filed on behalf of Sena Marie Downing, who was found dead at her home in September 2009. Police charged Downing's husband Jonathan Downing with murder. The suit alleged the police could have prevented Downing's death if they had full investigated the husband's previous violent acts. City Attorney Lance Baker filed a motion to dismiss the suit and the plaintiffs issued no response. Baker says the ruling is a "significant victory for the city," noting it's one of three lawsuits against the police department that have been dismissed within the last year.
