Murray, KY – A Mayfield Ethics Board ruling says there was no violation in the hiring of Mayor Theresa Cantrell. Cantrell says she received a letter the day she was sworn in last December regarding an ethics complaint. Former Mayor Arthur Byrn made the inquiry to determine if Cantrell was in violation of Mayfield's nepotism policy. Mayor Cantrell works with her half brother, deputy clerk Jeff Lamb. Lamb was in the post before Cantrell was elected mayor. The board determined last night that the Code of Ordinances did not list "half brother" as a family member subject to the policy. Any further investigation by the board has been terminated.
