Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville city council has changed city ordinance to allow guns in some local parks. The resolution passed 9 to 3 at a vote last night. City Communications Director Mark Hicks says the rule applies to most of the areas parks, including Fort Defiance battlefield and Clarksville's greenway trails. Areas excluded include Swan Lake Sports Complex, any city owned swimming pools, recreational center buildings, and parks located next to a school. Hicks says Barbara Johnson park near Outlaw Field Airport is also excluded from the resolution. The vote is a reversal of a decision two years ago to opt out of Tennessee's law to allow firearms in parks.
